In the months of February and March will begin one of the awesome-est sporting events here throughout the state of Florida, specially in the Orlando and Tampa areas, the Major League Baseball Spring Training 2011.
This event marks the beginning of the season for the teams to tweak their rosters for the season and hopefully creating the groundwork for the chemistry to compete for the ultimate prize, the chance to go all the way to the Championship and be declared the best baseball team in the world!
Spring Training is different from regular seasons cause teams that are part of the National or American Leagues are put together to create two Leagues: the Grapefruit with teams such as the NY Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Rays, Florida Marlins and others; and the Cactus which sports teams like the current champion San Francisco Giants, LA Dodgers, San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, and others. Another thing is that it doesn’t have divisions, everyone is in two piles competing together. Also, you can see that your favorite team sports a totally different team uniform than the one normally used during home or away games!
Here, you can sense who will be a contender, and who’s a pretender. One of the majorly anticipated games are: February 26th LA Dodgers vs San Francisco Giants, March 4th Boston Red Sox vs NY Yankees in the Steinbrenner Field which is a miniature Yankee Stadium, March 11th Chicago Cubs vs Chicago White Soxs, March 17th between the NY Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays at the Charlotte County Sports Park Field in Ft. Myers, and many more!
Even though the games aren’t as contested as in the regular season, it is a great opportunity to see many of the greats of today’s game! How would you feel seeing in the field amazing players as Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Josh Beckett, Jason Varitek, Matt Cain, Buster Posey, David Price, Evan Longoria, and many more! This year promises to be another try for the Chicago Cubs whom has been without a pennant since 1908. Is this going to be their year? Well that’s a question for the ages! Also could this be another year where new teams finally get to the World Series? Last Year, the Texas Rangers went on to win the American League pennant to get there for the first time in their history!
This year, could it be the year of the Seattle Mariners or the Washington Nationals? Who knows! And the question everyone is dreading, would the NY Yankees’ more than $206 million roster win their 28th World Series? The odds-maker puts the Yankees at 6 to 1, good luck all NY Yankees’ haters!
Since these are small venues, the prices are great and also it brings a little the intimate feel, which puts you closer to your favorite player. However, that’s why you have to reserve your tickets in advance cause they go out like hotcakes! For all lovers of the game, it is a treat to see your favorite team competing and also an awesome opportunity to take pictures!
What an amazing way to spend your vacation in Orlando than to see Mickey, Harry Potter and Shamu plus your favorite Baseball Team and Player in Spring Training! Plus, don’t forget to ask for your Peanuts and Cracker Jacks AND a nice jumbo-licious Hot Dogs! And remember your “Take me out to the ball game” lyrics, so you can sing with all the people attending the game!
