I figured while I am sitting in the doctor’s office waiting that I could write a blog about my favorite ride at the Magic Kingdom. Luckily with modern technology I can do this from IPhone. But enough about my personal life, I just recently heard someone talking about a haunted house and it reminded me of the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom. The Haunted Mansion is located at the very back of the theme park, its pretty easy to spot, it is a large mansion with cemetery headstones littering the yard.
Because the ride is a constantly moving train of carts it never really takes a long time to get to the front of the line. Once you get there you are put in the elevator with other guests waiting to get on the ride. Than through an interesting optical illusion the elevator appears to lengthen and all then apparently twist because the door that was behind you is suddenly in front of you. Every time they do it I can never figure out how the door movies, but it disappears and reappears.
Once you get in the cart that seats three people or four little ones you begin moving through the mansion. I don’t want to ruin all the ride for you but you come face to face with ninety nine of the Walt Disney Ghosts. With special effects and a little bit of “magic” these comical ghosts sing, dance, tell jokes and a whole slew of other funny things. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that the ride is scary, but if your kid is afraid of the dark than this isn’t the ride for them.
The Haunted Mansion is one of the oldest rides at the Magic Kingdom, and I sure hope it will stick around for a while lot longer. In fact it is the first ride I rush off to whenever I visit the park!
