Orlando Water

Hang TimeWhile on my trip to Orlando I decided to take part in some great out door sports that I don't normally get to enjoy during my busy work week. I love being able to get out side and enjoy nature and all it has to offer, so I went out to Orlando Watersports Complex. There you can enjoy some great wake boarding along a zip-line or behind a private boat. They possibilities are endless and you are assured to have a great time when you come out to this central Florida hotspot. I can spend days upon days there and enjoy it more than anything else. But I only had a limited amount of time, so I did a few runs and called it day.
After that me and the ol lady headed out to the best restaurant ever, Chipotles! There we both enjoyed some great burritos that were huge. I had a steak burrito with rice, black beans, corn, sour cream, cheese, guac and salsa. It was the best thing you can ever eat and I cannot wait to get another one. The size of the burrito is about the size of a small baby. If you are a real man then you can probably handle the whole, thing if not than don't try it...You will fail.

After enjoying a great bite to eat, we went a saw a movie at The Loop. The movie theater there is pretty nice and can fit thousands of people. We saw the Source Code. It was a really good movie with an interesting story line. I really enjoyed and learned some cool new things at the same time. After we enjoyed the movie we had to call it a night and start heading home. We both had a long day and needed some rest now so we went back to the house and caught some sleep.

When finally waking up we decided to go to Wet N' Wild for a little while. It is a huge water park in Orlando that has some of the most amazing water slides in the whole state. You can expect to spend the whole day there. There are enough things to keep you busy for days on end. I love hitting the wave pool and the black hole too. There is a lot of fun to be had there and you will have to experience it for yourself.

Sea World’s Kraken

The Kraken Roller CoasterI am a pretty big roller coaster fan; in fact there are very few roller coasters in the Central Florida area that I haven’t ridden. But recently I noticed a ticket special that lets you go to Sea World at the price of a child's ticket! So with that offer I got to go back to Sea World and ride one of my favorite roller coasters, the Kraken. Roller coasters aren’t the first thing you would expect to find at Sea World, I mean the park is directed at ocean life and water shows, but somehow they have managed to find a fitting theme for both the roller coasters at the park.

Well I remember visiting Sea World while they were actually building the Kraken roller coaster. There was a big sign that announced you would go 70 M.P.H., and they had the whole area fenced off so you couldn’t see what was happening. Fortunately they drilled holes in the fence so you could peak through and get a glimpse of the “coming attraction.”

Outside the entrance to the Kraken you can see the massive head of the sea monster himself. There is a large cave you can also enter and they have “eggs” lining the walls. Each of these eggs has its own unique kind of eel, which is always cool to check out if you’re waiting for a friend or family member who is on the ride.

Now as I said earlier when the roller coaster was being built it said it would launch you at 70 M.P.H. after the drop directly into a loop. I am not sure if those calculations were done with the cart empty or if they just cut back on the speed but the ride actually only goes 65 M.P.H., still just as thrilling. Regardless the 140 foot drop is one of the most exhilarating rides I have been on. The roller coaster is a bottomless cart, which means your feet are dangling in mid air the entire time. So on top of the incredible speeds you feel almost weightless the entire time.

If you wanna ride the Kraken then try to get on during one of the shows. All the people that would normally be in line to watch a show are watching the fish do flips, so it eliminates the long line!

A trip to Islands of Adventure

Incredible Hulk CoasterRecently I found myself looking for a great theme park at a great price because my family was coming into town and I had to take them out. So I found that Islands of Adventure was my best bet. They have amazing rides and great prices so that's where we went. I had the time of my life and had no regrets afterwards. You will know what I mean when you see it for yourself. They are a great place for the whole family. You can enjoy some mind boggling rides such as The Hulk, Spider Man, Popeye and many many more. You will be blown away by the caliber of this park. You will not want to leave this wonderland. There are thrills to be had all day.
When my family and I came to the theme parks we were skeptacle because it is such a cliche going to the theme parks when visiting Orlando, but it really turned out to be a great day. We had fun riding all the rides and walking around exploring the area for ourselves. One of my favorite rides there was The Hulk. It rocketed you out at a 0-60 time of less than 3 seconds, this is amazing. You shoot out and do a series of loops and turns and rocket down the track and even go under ground for a brief second. The ride is short but is totally worth the wait. You will love it and want to come back again and again. Don't be scared of this great ride, just embrace it and enjoy it.
When in the park, you will find that there are several places to dine at and enjoy your food. We ate a 2 different places that were amazing. We had a great menu choice and I had some amazing chicken wraps that I just couldn't get enough of. I recommend stopping in one of their fine dining establishments so you can take advantage of the amazing food that they have there. You will love it and want to come back again again, just for the food.
When in the theme park you will have several oppurtunites to get wet. They even have rides that strictly say; only ride if you are willing to get soaked. They really mean that too. I got drenched just thinking I was gonna get sprinkled. But I turned out to be okay and I really enjoyed the park in it's entirety. I would recommend a family trip here if you are thinking of coming to Orlando.

Pirates of the Caribbean – Battle for Buccaneer Gold

Battle for Buccaneer GoldOne of my favorite things to do in the Orlando is go to Disney Quest. The price of a ticket to Disney Quest is also significantly cheaper than one to the theme parks. It’s actually pretty fun if I can get the guys together to go out there and have a good time. Disney quest is advertised as “Four floors of fully interactive games.” But, in reality it is four flours of competitive arcade games and restaurants that offer junk food, what better way to kick back and enjoy the vacation?

However I am not here to advertise Disney Quest to you. I would like to focus on a specific ride/game/attraction that can be found on the bottom floor of the arcade. As you walk down the stairs you will see several boats that appear to be riding down some rapids. You will see guests paddling furiously and narrowly dodging dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes. But this ride isn’t your destination, turn sharply to your right and get in line for my favorite ride, the Pirates of the Caribbean – Battle for Buccaneer Gold simulator.

Now like I said most rides at Disney Quest focus on competitive gaming where you vs. your friends. But, the Battle for Buccaneer Gold ride is one of a few where you have to work together to make a combined score. There are seven positions on the boat for seven separate “crew” members. The first position is the captain who has a steering wheel. He guides the ship across the sees in whatever direction he wants. It is his job to avoid running into other ships as well as find places that offer the crew more treasure.

The other six positions are cannons situated on all sides of your boat. Each person gets a cannon and has to defend the ship from enemy boats as well as attack forts, beaches, boats and other objects that hold treasure. This is probably the most entertaining of the positions, and you don’t necessarily need six people to man all the cannons. In fact there were only four of us and we did fine. The objective of the game is to collect the most gold you can in the short amount of time you are given.

The best part about the whole experience is that it is in 3D. I mean the game really comes to life when you see three dimensional cannon ball projectiles flying through the air, a definite favorite of mine.

Traveling to the beach from Orlando.

Honda S2000 at Sunset HillSo I just got a Honda S2000. It has exceeded my every expectation and then some. So I decided to take a trip to the beach with my old lady. I wanted to really get a chance to see how the S does on a long drive. I wanted to see if it would be considered a comfortable ride and offer all the necessary room needed to move around with another passenger in the car as well. I brought my girl and we hit the road. We left Orlando heading down i4. There were a ton of ricers that thought I just wanted to try and "race" them... They were wrong, I am not a 16 year old fan boy who dreams of being in "The Fast and Fictitious". The truth was, I loved this car and it was so much more of a car to drive then all my other cars. It handled better than my AWD Evo, It accelerated better than my boosted 240sx and it slid better than my N/A 350z. This car was good! It kept pushing back even when I pushed as hard as I could. This car just wouldn't give in, it was relentless and its 240 horsepower 4 cylinder engine was graciously paired with a 9,000 rpm redline. This combination was a match made in heaven. I loved the car and it loved me back, so it seemed. Another great thing about the car is the fact that it was a convertible, meaning I can let the top down whenever I so desire. You can bet I put the top down too! I rode down the interstate enjoying a nice car that had a lot of power on tap. I revved it all the way to 9k over and over again and I just couldn't get enough of it. Sure it only had about 210 hp at the wheels, but it felt so powerful even compared to my 400 wheel horsepower Evo. I can rave all day about this car, but until you drive it for yourself, you just won't understand.
Now driving to the beach we decided to hit up Cocoa Beach. It is a great beach just about an hour or so drive from Orlando. It has some awesome scenery and great waves and fishing areas too. So we headed out and in about an hour we were there. It really is amazing how many different things that Orlando has to offer. You can go to an array of theme parks in the Orlando area, or just drive a bit and you will be at the wonderful ocean! It just doesn't get any better than that! Orlando really is a great city that has a lot to offer. Well at the beach it's safe to say that I got my tan on and soaked in the great Florida sun and had a blast too. We went skim boarding on the beach and had a great time! I cannot wait to go back and have some more fun. My girl loved it and so did I. We plan to again soon, once we both have another day off together.

Medieval Times

Medieval TimesWe purchase all our tickets through, and we usually pick them right up at the office. Well when I stopped in with my wife and kids to pick up our tickets it was too late to make it to a theme park, so we asked at the register if there was any good night time things to do in town. The first thing he suggested was a dinner show and he showed three or four separate ones we had time to get to.

Now as we pulled into the parking lot at the ticket place we noticed a massive stone castle right across the street with large torches sporting real fire. They told us it was called medieval times and it was one of the shows we had time to get to, it was also one of the most inexpensive of the four. So we decided we would head over there and try our first dinner show. The cool thing is they told us if we went over early we could explore outside buildings and see a bunch of medieval workshops and show rooms. They had blacksmiths, a woodshop and even a torture chamber, it was pretty cool.

So then we headed inside and had some drinks before waiting for the show to start. They said it is smart to arrive an hour early and ensure that you get a seat. I guess they work on a first come first save bases, which I guess also means they are a pretty busy dinner show. Once you get into the stadium they seat you down around a large ring, each seating section has a designated color and emblem. Wherever you are seated is the color night you are supposed to cheer for. During the show they come out and serve you soup, half a chicken and plenty of other finger foods from the medieval era, it was awesome tasting food.

The actual show was great to, my kids loved it. The knights come out on the arena on horses, all decked out in armor and sporting their colors. They fight with all kinds of hand to hand weapons to determine the winner. But first they perform complex stunts on their horses and they even joust! As a first dinner show this was the best, now I am dying to see some of the others!

O-town Night

Disney Quest EntranceBeing a local Orlando resident, this weekend i decided to take a trip to Disney Quest. It is a 5 floor interactive arcade filled with all types of interactive games and arcades: from new arcades to classic such as Pac Man and Galaga. You will have the time of your life playing in this wonderland. Admission is a mere 30 dollars and you will have so much fun you won't want to leave. Disney Quest is found on Disney's property, located in Down Town Disney. You will surely want to come back again and again once you experience the thrills for yourself. Disney Quest is by far my favorite thing about Disney. You will have so much fun battling your friends and family. You can shoot it out on one of the many shooting games, race each other on the famous Daytona 500, go to infinity and beyond at the Buzz Lightyear simulator or even paddle your way to safety at the river water adventure. The games seem endless and so does the fun. Disney Quest was designed to have 5 different themed floors to cater to different maturity levels and ages. You can find a floor dedicated entirely to the little ones in the group where they can color and "imagineer" their own rides which they can then ride on. Disney has really gone above and beyond at this place. I love coming here and playing the fighter jet simulator. You actually are suspended in air and and you will turn in the direction you turn you jet on the screen. There is no other game like it there and you will love it. I know i spend at least an hour on just this one game every time I go to Disney Quest. My other favorites are the circus sharpshooter game. You can shoot at targets that require precision shooting and hone your skills while still having a good time in a friendly environment. You won't have to pay for ammunition and/or targets. Have the time of your life honing your marksmanship and have a great time at the one and only Disney Quest.

Hollywood Studios - American Idol Experience

American Idol ExperienceNow I love the Hollywood Studios theme park, mostly because I am a huge fan of the Indiana Jones show. But when I arrived this time I came across a show that I have never seen before. I remember hearing about it sometime in the past but I guess I dismissed it for a one time event. Just after you enter the park and pass through the entrance and the shops you are suddenly greeted by a massive structure that to me, appears to have just appeared over night.

The newest ride addition to the theme park is the American Idol Experience, where park guests get to try their hand at singing on stage. Now most places would just let a few guests up on stage to sing, but the American Idol Experience is far more thorough. They collect park guests at the start of the day, visitors that want to try their hand at singing. Then professional tutors help the contestants practice their song before the show starts.

At certain times throughout the day which you can find in handouts there are live shows on stage. Just follow the schedule and you get to go inside and watch five contestants sing and sometimes dance for the audience. When they are all done the judges on stage that mimic the TV show hosts criticize them. But at the end it all comes down to you, on the side of each chair is a set of numbers, when they are all done singing you get asked to vote. Finally when they claim a victor they invite you back to one last show at the end of the day.

The last show is the victors from all the previous shows throughout the day. Usually by this time all the singers are very talented, and judging them is actually complex. When they get the winner from this show they give them a ticket offering them a chance to come back for one last show against the rest of the winners throughout the week. Then if they win that showcase they have a chance to go to the actual TV show!
